Banzhang Zhenpin Old Tree Sheng Pu-Erh - Yunnan's Golden Tea Treasure

This Pu-erh tea is from the 2019 harvest and comes from old wild tea trees (Old Tree) in Banzhang Village, Menghai, Yunnan. The deep roots of these centuries-old bushes provide particularly mineral-rich leaves, which give the tea a robust earthiness and delicate sweetness.

“Zhenpin” – The precious product
The addition Zhenpin (Chinese: 珍品) is composed of 珍 (zhēn, “precious”) and 品 (pǐn, “product”) and signals: This is a particularly high-quality, rare batch made only from the best leaf buds.

Traditional Harvesting & Processing
Only the tender buds of selected Old Tree bushes were hand-picked in spring 2019. After gentle sun-drying, the leaves were pressed into a dense 357g cake to optimally preserve the unfermented aromas.

Flavor profile

• First infusion: intense malt and earth notes
• Subsequent infusions: develop floral honey notes and subtle dried fruit sweetness.
• Finish: long-lasting, velvety with a hint of cocoa bean

Aging & Storage
Thanks to the unfermented Sheng format and the high-quality old-tree leaves, this 2019 Pu-erh develops increasingly complex aromas over the years. Stored in a dark and airy environment, it becomes a highly sought-after collector's item.

Preparation instructions

Water: just under 95 °C

Dosage: 5–7 g of tea per 100 ml

Infusions:

1. Infusion: 10–15 s
2. Infusion: 15–20 s
3. Each additional infusion: +5–10 s (up to 10+ infusions possible)
